What a club master has to do
In a DJ set, your track is compared against the one before it at the same fader position. It needs to be loud, but a squashed master loses in the room even when it wins on the meter.
Keep up with the previous track

How loud should a club master be?

Is louder always better in a DJ set?
No. DJs gain-match, and an over-limited track has less punch on a big system. Loud enough, with the kick intact, wins.
